I had the impression from what I've read on this list, that one of the
long term goals is to make Hurd work without the need to borrow parts of
Linux.We would surely like to do that, but it doesn't make sense to fully rewrite the ext2 and ext3 file systems. It would be a lot of work which isn't needed for any technical reasons. I think the same is true for some other I/O servers. So we must expect to keep having some servers that include Linux code.
