If you configure the tarball it should "build" a spec file from the spec.in and fill in the VERSION -- so you shouldn't have to do that by hand.
Hmmm, yes. So, you recommend running "autogen.sh" after untarring the distribution? Okay, can do.
But, it just seems like a long way to walk to replace @-VERSION-@ with the corect version, and removing ".in" from the spec file name.
I wonder, would it be possible (desirable?) to do this when building the distibution tarball? IE: could "make dist" build the gnucash.spec file?
