Ann, I you are getting the window with the Accounts tab (it is the default until you open an account register) click on it then right click on whichever of the top level accounts you wish to create the account under and slect New Account and the account creation dialogue will come up. You can edit account details at any time but changing the parent account will change the position in the account tree. The choices for account type are usually limited to appropriate choices for the parent account you selected in the first step.
