Conjecture is nice. Evidence is better. Put together a study testing the continued validity of the hypothesis. If it turns out the hypothesis is false, I and many others will certainly sit up and pay attention. As for me, though -- I have enough on my plate without taking on this task. I'm going to believe the question is settled, on the basis of existing evidence, until such time as new contradicting evidence is presented.
