Did we have a single gstep-base release which did NOT break the ABI? I don't think so. As mentioned in that long discussion ;-) I'm in favor of doing an occasional ABI stable release and have frequent ABI unstable ones properly tagged as such. The latter then do not need to preserve ABI stability for sonames.
