cannot possible include the full spectrum of Goan books published through the
centuries, just those he finds most relevant to his course material.
This does not take away from the fact that Victor's book is one of the
singularly influential books in Goan and world literature.

Milkweed published as a hardback in 1998; it deals with life in a small
fictitious village in Goa. Booklist said it was one of the twenty best first
novels of the several hundred that were published in the United States that
