There are quite a few institutions in Portugal that have old Portuguese India related documents and they are housed in the right buildings.
* Museu da Marinha in Lisbon has a wealth of maritime and military related documents * Museu Ultramarino in Alcantara (suburbs of Lisbon) has a lot of general government colonial era documents, manuscripts and books * Torre to Tombo has more ancient documents * One of the large Coimbra libraries has some interesting Goan related publications Besides there is a large private library mostly related to Goan books held in London, afraid I cannot give out details. It is just beyond belief what books and other publications they have there. Definitely the largest one in the world in private hands. All I can say is that it is not open to public, it is very private. Regards.
