I agree fully with the conte= nts and see no reason why anybody should disagree. Apparently Rico disagree= s and would prefer that corruption and defections continue in the State. W= ell as a journalist, defections would keep him busy no doubt as at such tim= es there is always lots to write about, but one has to look at the broader = picture. Corruption is rampant in the State from the highest to the lowest = levels so there does exist a need to check this. The Diocesan Service Centr= e for Social Action has been in the forefront of various social causes and = their statement has summarized the situation and also provided some guideli= nes to the voters. All they are asking is that the voter make a conscientio= us choice. What=92s in this to disagree about? Infact the more publicity th= at is given to this statement from the Centre the better it will be. =0A=0A= Alexandre Moniz Barbosa=0A=0A______________________________________________= ___________=0AClick below to visit monsterindia.com and review jobs in Indi= a or Abroad=0Ahttp://monsterindia.rediff.com/jobs=0A ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 6 May 2002 04:29:08 -0700 (PDT) From: The Goan Forum <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: [Goanet] Re: Rauls, neo-Rauls and revisionism Dear Eddie, Thanks for your thoughts. Allow me to add a few words here. Let me give due where it is due. The following in your post isn't entirely true. EDDIE FERNANDES 1:[Neither GoaNet nor your website are named in the article. Is it too much to expect?] JC 1: The article actually says the following:(<CAPS)[Another expat Goan, Dr Jose Colaco of Velim, now based in the Bahamas, comments on his WWW.COLACO.NET website thus: "As we stepped out on to the Dabolim tarmac......] I agree with you re: the following with regards to the Dabolim article.: EDDIE FERNANDES 2[... signing the article. Policy with regard to this will vary from one newspaper to another. Even within a newspaper it varies according to the status of the writer and other factors. Journalists will generally prefer to sign their articles except when they are criticising goons and politicians because then they risk life and limb. They have my sympathy for having to operate in an intimidating environment.] JC 2: However, here is another Raulistic post, a post in which Raul is being accused of MASSAGING the TRUTH the entire text including the segment posted to me from California by the Great Swami Goananda is at the following url http://www.colaco.net/1/siddhi.htm It is my belief that RAUL needs to answer the query put to him This is an area of contention. It is Raul's credibility at stake. We ALL need to know if this chap or chappie is reliable or not! good wishes jc for TGF ====== http://www.colaco.net/1/siddhi.htm [A] courtesy RAUL in Navhind Times 400 YEARS LATER SIDDHIS STILL KEEP KONKANI CLOSE TO HEART Unidentified author NAVHIND TIMES February 11, 2002 Page 3 Nearly 400 years ago, when the British had abolished slavery, the Africans were brought to Goa by the Portuguese for various types of work, but they left Goa and settled at the Yellapur district in Karwar out of sheer fear of torture from Portuguese. When the Siddhis left Goa they took Konkani language on their tongue, which is still preserved in their community. This was stated by the leader of the Yellapur Siddhi Sanskritik Mand, Mr Mingual Anton Siddhi, who presented a Siddhi dance at the Konkani Sangeet Sammelan, at Fatorda this afternoon. The conclusion we have to reach is that Mr Siddhi NEVER mentioned the Portuguese in his statements and that, what was written by your Staff Reporter are inferences of HIS OWN MAKING. #5. The question remains: WHY did your Staff Reporter INVENT statements that were not there and try to present history this way? [C] courtesy www.colaco.net I add one more question: WHO is this unidentified writer / journalist from the Navhind Times? Not another "Raul", I hope ===== Recommended Goan Sites in Cyberspace Goa-World at http://www.goa-world.net The Goan Forum is at http://www.colaco.net __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? The British passed a law in 1807 declaring buying, selling and transporting slaves illegal. But ownership of slaves continued legal. 2. Only in 1834, the British passed a law declaring ownership of slaves illegal. And it was only in 1834 that slavery was abolished throughout the British Empire. Unfortunately, NT has loads of "Raul" type reporters, ready for any opportunity to make up stories and invent history to fulfil their own objectives and keep the "freedom-fighter" concept/idea very much alive. That does not surprise me anymore. What really surprises me is that these kind of articles still manage to pass through the NT Editor's eyes and get approval to be published. Isn't the Editor supposed to check the articles that get published ? Surely if an article contains inaccuracies, it should fail to be published, right ?
