To Goans everywhere and particularly in Goa tomorrow (May 30th, 2002)

Please read INDIAN EXPRESS - May 29, 2002 -- Mumbai Edition -- page 2

UDHAV KICKS OFF SENA"S GOA PLAN

Udhav Thackeray of SHIV SENA claims that the Sena's plan for goa includes:

        1. Removal of all roadside CROSSES in the villages of Goa
        2. Renaming all roads, villages, etc which continue to bear
"Portuguese" names
        3. "Trademark" bashing of secularism, the media and the Congress
Party --
"We have to redefine the meaning of secularism."
        4. "Udhav also appeared to justify the attacks on Muslims in
Gujarat when he said the
violence began after Hindus were burnt alive in Godhra"

Are these statements enough cause for the Election Commission in Goa to
disallow the SHIV SENA from taking part in elections on May 30th 2002???

In Bombay on Suday, June 2nd 2002, there is an all-citizen meeting at
Shivaji Park at 18:15 -- Cardinal Ivan has requested us to carry a candle
to light after sunset to show our solidarity. Those of us in Bombay should
definitely be present at this meeting.

Cheers

Aloysius D'Souza
