Plant Utsav 2002 will be held from 29 November to 01 December at Campal, Panaji. This will be the fifth consecutive year that the event is held. The new Executive Committee headed by Dr. Heman Y. Karapurkar plans to make it a grand event with participation by agencis from other states. The People's Movement for Civic Action, Department of Science, Technology & Environment (Goa), Goa Forest Department and the Ministry of Environment and Forest (Delhi) have consistently associated with this event. Other agencies like Directorate of Agriculture, WWF - Goa, Goa Horticulture Association have also participated during some years. In the latest issue of its newsletter, BUDSPORT, the BSG President writes "As the Plant Utsav has become an event of mass appeal, we want to satisfy plant lovers all the more. Bigger place, more stalls, new introduction of equipments and plants, participation by outstation agencies are on the anvil. We assure you that this festival would be to your expectations." An Organizing Committee headed by BSG Vice - President, Rozendo Mendonsa, has begun the groundwork. The BSG Secretary, A.J. Gomes, has been scouting for suitable partners and the venues. The Goa Nurserymen's Association has assured its support. The wheels are rolling. Get your potted plants ready for the Plant Utsav. Hone your gardening and flower arrangement skills. The August - October issue of BUDSPORT is out. BSG members who have not received a copy by 15 September may contact the BSG Secretary. The Budsport comes to you with a new look and a new format.
