Miguel I don't think Mother Teresa as a person was the issue raised. There is a HUGE difference between discussing her as a person (of whom I have not made any criticism) and discussing the SYSTEM where the benefits are disproportinate to people of color (there are hardly any people of color as saints as compared to Europeans). All the 5 points I made related to the SYSTEM and not Mother Teresa as a person.
Blessed Vaz has not been made a saint for 4 reasons: 1. The Vatican has historically sidelined people of color. 2. The Archdiocese of Goa has done little (or nothing) to promote his cause. 3. Our Goan priests and nuns are happy to be in the service of foreign-based orders and by extension neglect our own. Their inaction marginalizes our own Goans (Blessed Vaz, Ven Agnelo). They should lead a movement to honor Goans, supplementing their current agenda, rather than keeping it Euro-centric. Have you asked yourself why is there no significant Goan order, when there are so many Goan priests and nuns. In fact, if it is not for them those orders would suffer a huge loss. Can't we have a significant Goan order? 4. Most importantly, Catholic Goans are too timid to ask for their fair share, either in the Church or in the work-place or any institution. They prefer to validate their religious beliefs through the blessing of white people and white people alone. So if the person/saint is not white, it is not good enough. If it is a person of color, they are second class. If it is a person of color and Goan, they are third class. That is the sickness which afflicts a vast majority of our people.
