Hi all,
'Udok' is pure sanskrit for water. The language of the konkan has been known 
to be heavily sanskrit derived/ based.

Pani for water in other Indian tongues is more like a corruption of the pure 
sanskrit on which our superior language konkanni, is based compared to 
neighboring Marathi and others. In Marathi, it's true that even 
mispronunciations of 'Mumbai'  for 'Bombay' (English) or 'Bonbaie' 
(Potuguese) have been promoted for mass indoctrination and political gain!

It is also true that Sanskrit has been the base or at least the 
assimiliation master language of ancient times; as many like words with like 
meaning are found in Scandinivian, Slav and Latin Languages.
Perhaps the intelligent saraswats and others who settled in the fertile 
Konkan brought sanskrit intellect to Goa. Viva Goa.
