Goanet next meets in Goa: January 7, 4 pm (meeting point: Kala Academy canteen). Goanet founder Herman Carneiro will be there. See you there! ------------------------------
The contribution of a Haldonkar sankistanv to ditch the wise Moidekars was popularised by Lucio Rodrigues in a text reproduced in Goa Today - Sept. 1985 pp. 44-45! Incidentally, the Moirá bananas were brought by the Franciscans from their mission base in Kerala. There is a reference in Goa Archives to a Franciscan parish priest of Moirá sending a basket-full of "figos de Cananore" to the viceroy. I heard that some Moidekar ganvkars wanted to beat their parish priest by sending mankurad mangoes to the viceroy and tasted them all before sending to ensure that no sour ones were sent! As for webcasting pordexporia effectively, it is important that some good essays are posted to webpages analysing the woes and successes of Goans who have pordexpored and others who are planning to do so! It is not enough to use *pordexi* as noun, because that is already listed in many Konkani vocabularies and Bollywood music references on the internet. Verb, adjective and adverb forms need to appear more frequently. That is what will fox the critics of the Konglish literature! Teotonio R. de Souza ---------- >The rumours rumoured by you in the following PS should convince all Goanetters and all Goans who have *pordexpored" worldwide that originality of Goan thought and action has always come from Moirá! It all started by producing a different kind of bananas, and after a serious attempt to relocate their Church. Unfortunately, the end result of that engineering attempt the Church of Moirá remained with its back to the front! Legend also has it that the Moidekars were assisted in this futile effort by a wise sacristan (sankistanv) from Aldona. Perhaps you can educate us a bit about the origins of this legend. Let us learn from the mistakes of history, or we will be doomed to repeat them. ----- But we must ensure that *pordexporia* does not produce any mixed results that might leave the new beat group of Moidekar in any fix! But if they adopt a fast beat, we can be sure google will pick it up and globalize rapidly. With eminent Moidekars like yourself and Floriano Lobo at the FOREFRONT I am convinced that no Anglophilian SYNDICATE can block your march for linguistic (and musical) justice and equality. We will watch as the support for PORDEXPORIA builds up and CASCADES into a TIDAL WAVE. Cheers!
