About the Goan Inquisition Tariq Siddiqui: Fine. But then explain why were Jews who were coming as refugees in "boat-loads" being victimized? They did not own any land in Goa. So if the Inquisition was about land grabbing, why were Jews killed? This logic does not make sense. The Portuguese tortured, killed and annexed the land of the Hindus so that they could resettle Jewish refugees and then (gasp!) went on to torture and kill these same Jewish refugees?
Gilbert responds: Do you have any statistics of Jewish migration to Goa? Do you know why and how they landed? Were they illegal immigrants? Family sponsorship, encouragement by government etc.? Do you have any statistics of Jewish victimization IN GOA- dates, numbers and nature of punishment? I assume anybody coming to a foreign land needs a place to stay and make a livelihood?
