There are two plant exhibitions planned for August 2004 by Nature/Eco Clubs in two educational institutions affiliated to the Botanical Society of Goa [ or simply BSG]. They are: 14-15 Aug PLANT MELA at Government College of Arts,Science & Commerce, Khandola-Marcela, which now has a brand new building of its own. Co-ordinator Ms.Christina de Souza Pai. 21-23 Aug. FESTIVAL OF PLANTS & FLOWERS at SFX High [and Higher Secondary] School, Siolim. This is their annual event for 12 years without a break since 1992. Co-ordinator: Diogo Seby Pinto [ always in the Forefront !] Both the festivals include competitions in potted plants, on-the-spot competitions and sales of fruit and ornamental plants from registered nurseries. The focus of the Festival of Plants & Flowers this year is vegetable and spice plants. Potted plant competitions for school students and adults in two separate categories. Entries to reach SFX School hall betwen 3 and 6 P.M. on 20 August [Friday, Goa Day and Konkani Day] . Vegetable carving,salad dressing and poster painting competitions on 21 Aug [Saturday] at 9.00 A.M.; vegetable fancy dress for students at 10.30 A.M. and vegetarian cooking [gravy,dry and sweet dishes] competition [open to all ages and genders] at 12 noon.
