Prof Dr William Madtha is no more !!!
Prof Dr William Madtha, Great Konkani Schollar,
retired professor & HOD of Linguistics, KarnatakA
University, Dharwad, is expired today (November 9)
early morning at at 12.30 am (00.30 hrs) at Muller
Hospital, Mangalore. He had a fever and diagnised with
daiabetes and blood pressure. He was admitted to
Kankanady Fr. Mullers Hospital three days ago.
He was a great linguist and was a Mangalorean of top
calibre who was fighting for the literature of Kannada
script to be recognised.
He is survived by wife Celine and two daughters Sheela
(son-in-law Emmanuel Antony) and Leela. His funeral
will be held in Dharwad.
Currently, his family is in Mangalore preparing for
his mortal remains to be taken to Dharwad for final
rites.
