Mario,
I had intended to let you have the last word and to ignore your singularly inimitable drivel but you are in sore need of education even if you choose to dismiss what I say as bovine flatulence :-)
You would profit from reading goanet posts before shooting off. I had also provided urls for further information. To take the two programmes that are to be aired by the BBC this Sunday:
The first one, Hindu Nation, presented by Sir Mark Tully, is a repeat. I watched it when it was first broadcast in Aug 2003 and again in Nov. 2004. I suggest you check on Tully's standing in India and refresh yourself with the account of his row with the BBC management and his subsequent resignation. Do read some of his writings. Your claim of a conspiracy by the BBC beggars belief.
The second programme, Final Solution is an independent production by Rakesh Sharma which took over two years to make and was then banned by the BJP. This was finally lifted around the time of the Elections. There have been waves of media publicity about this film. Where have you been?
The BBC was to screen the Final Solution on 14 Nov. 2004. At the appointed time I switched the TV and there was another programme broadcast without any apology or explanation or acknowledgment. I telephoned the BBC but they asked me to write in. I did so but did not hear so I wrote again. I then received a telephone call from them to say that it had been changed since 14 Nov happened to be both Diwali and Eid with UK Asians being outdoors in larger numbers than usual. There was concern that the programme might trigger incidents which could snowball, hence it was not shown and the reason could not be stated in case that in itself provoked violence. The caller would not give his name.
I am not suggesting that there is no racism in the BBC or in the UK but with regard to these two programmes, would you condemn the BBC?
Cheers,
Eddie Fernandes London

Eddie, actually it is the education that you should be thankful for. Blindly believing the BBC with its recent history of twisting the truth contributes to the ignorance and prejudices of Brits, and may make them feel superior to you "Wogs" or "Pakis" or whatever they are calling you these days, but it is Indian expats like you who need to set the record straight. The 2 BBC programs you recommended, one suggesting that secularism is dead in India and the other re-playing the 2002 Godhra atrocities, are both either grossly exaggerated, false or old news and Indians like you should know that and point it out to your Brit friends, and ask the BBC what their intentions are in showing such stuff.
