JC response:

I request George to please expand on the above sentence. Would he please direct me to any official site which clearly defines that Cardinal Ratzinger and JP II dismissed Liberation Theology?

After observing the happenings and involvement of Catholic priests in Kerala politics et in Nicaragua, I am glad that the Vatican asked an US member of Congress, a priest, to make his choice between politics and priesthood.

He too was quite upset at the outset. But after his meetings with ordinary Catholics in South and Central America, I believe he saw the light.

But, more about that at a later date. For now I'd really be grateful if George gives us a bit more detail...and his own views on the matter. I hope he will give us the benefit of his own view on Whether Priests should be Involved in Partisan Politics? and Whether, the experiences of the involvements in Central and South America were beneficial ones.

I am also interested in Fr. Gomes' assertion. In light of that, I'd like to ask Fr. Gomes How often he preached (after all that is where this thread started) and when, about:

1. The Sex Abuse Scandal and the Cover up
2. Poverty
3. Health Care
4. Violence
5. Death by Murder

and IF and When he wrote to his Bishops about any of the above matters

It is an open ended set of questions which do not necessarily need to be answered.

But if there is dialogue, I'd like to bring in the politics of Hindutva and the lessons learnt from that destructive mess.

sincerely

jc
