Dears,

The Archbishop of Goa Filipe Neri Frrrao was the main celebrant of the
second centenary mass at the St. Clara's church, Assonora, close to the
source of our PWD water supply project. With Fr.Savio, the Parish priest of
Assonora, concelebrating the mass along with Bishop Alwyn Barreto, there
were two Aldonkars at the altar. There were other concelebrants, including
Fr.Cristo[ whom I know earlier at Siolim and Saude-Chorao] and my own uncle,
Fr.Jeronimo Braganza,OCD, whose grand uncle had served in Assonora and built
the little chapel atop the hill. Incidentally, one of the two children
baptised at this mass was named Miguel, perhaps after the patron saint of
the chapel.

The local choir was fantastic and the arrangements at mass impeccable,
except for the Pascal candle that refused to light except when it was
absolutely essential...to light the Christening candles for Miguel and the
baby girl, Leena. there was a country band in attendence to marshall the
spirits and there was a celebration at hand. ----- Original Message -----

In a touching gesture reminiscent of our own Parish Priest, Fr. Amandio
Valladares, the Hindu villagers who had joined in the celebration were given
a flower [gerbera or carnation] by one of the two Bishops immediately after
the mass.I had to return for a Board meeting of my club and cannot tell you
about the rest of the evening.

 Viva Goa.
 Miguel
