Hi, I'm sorry to barge in but I thought if I talked a bit about etymology it might help to make things more clear. The words migrate, emigrate and immigrate originate from(as in the case of many other English words) the latin word migro. From migro you have emigro and immigro. Emigro is a compound of ex+migro and the prefix "ex" means from or out of and migro means to depart or to go. Hence emigro will mean to depart from. On the other hand immigro is a compound of in+migro (the prefix "in" gets converted into imm) which means to depart into, or go into. Cheers! Richard Cabral
