RESPONSE: George, some Goanetters practice their own form of censorship when they cannot hold their own in a debate. We have seen this time and again. Even recently. They indulge in abuse, insults, name-calling, ridiculing, caste aspersions, etc...... The Goanet moderators are also at the receiving end of these vilification campaigns that continue offline, with CCs and BCCs to others, where the polemics and tirades continue. You would know. Goanet Admin have repeatedly asked Goanetters to moderate the content they themselves send to Goanet in order to minimise the task of having a team moderate Goanet. Alot of the debate is generated by self-righteous individuals who must have the last word in every exchange. Its difficult for some among us to give us their point of view and leave it at that. They must try to convince and beat an opposing view to the dust (or so they think). Another trait among some Goanetters is to only oppose what a specific Goanetter says everytime. Never mind whether they are enriching the debate or not, the important aspect is to counter a view that is presented. All they want to do is make some 'noise' to draw attention to themselves and distract the community from discussing real issues that affect us. Most of these exchanges have gone along ideological lines which further divides people. It would be better if fellow Goanetters publicly admonished or moderated such individuals so that we can weed them out. And then there are some Goans, who are oblivious to the fact of who maybe reading these messages. 'nuff said......Best - Bosco _______________________________________________ Goanet mailing list Goanet@lists.goanet.org http://lists.goanet.org/listinfo.cgi/goanet-goanet.org
