I guess the writer must have felt the urge to attempt to clarify matters! The beer sold at the Goan Festival was not 300 ml. I don't believe we have 300 mil cans of beer in the U.K. ! My reason for bringing up the issue, was not to point out the mistakes made but rather to reiterate, hopefully lessons will have been learnt. As far as health and safety goes, I agree that the recently held Festival was properly managed. I had written sometime ago regarding a football tournament, which wasn't. Just because a disclaimer is issued, does not mean that the organizers are then absolved from any responsibility should a mishap occur. The organizers would have to show that they took due care to ensure that all safety and health issues were addressed. I am glad to have been addressed by the GOA UK health and safety person I/C. Later this month there is a GOA Sports day being held; I trust that due care and attention, to make the grounds level and safe for the Athletes, will be paramount in the minds of the organizers. To issue disclaimers, will be of no use if someone gets injured and it will be shown that the grounds were not fit for a sports meet! I am also glad, that it has been shown, that there were no encumbrances in place that prevented Office bearers from posting on Goanet. This was an issue before, i.e. having no right of reply! I also hope that Mr. Fernandes is not slapped on the wrist, by the Board, for posting here! Lastly talking about beer, my favourite subject. It was not that many years ago that the Festival which was previously called S.C.O.G.O. was selling 300 mil bottles of beer which were priced at £2.50. Who cares? Well the members did and it was not long after that S.C.O.G.O. was disbanded as there didn't seem to be accountability! -- DEV BOREM KORUM. Gabe Menezes.
