Why do you need to go around in circles? I would suggest that, you either
know the answer to Fred's question or do not. Why do you not say that, you
do not know and then provide some clear reasons why it might be difficult to
arrive at a figure instead of implying (from my reading of your response),
that there may be something odd about Fred's straightforward question?
Just asking.
