You should have told her that they are called gulab
jaam in Konkani, which they are. Here are Konkani
names of some common Indian dishes.

Dosa - pollo
Masala dosa - masaale pollo
uttappam - kaanya bhaakri
idli - heet or saanna
samosa - saamoso
bonda - bataat vodo
pakoda - bhojim
pav bhaji - bhaaji pav
puri bhaji - bhaaji puri
sambar - kollmo
