One must know the right type of goan feni. This drink is distilled only in the months of February to April and one must know who distills this feni without adding anything. During my childhood days if the bottle was opened in one room the whole house would smell the feni. When cajus are riped they are taken to make feni. In olden days the juice of caju alone was used to prepare feni and as such it was not harmful. After extracting the juice the sap that remained was dried and used for firewood. Today feni is prepared throughout the year and substances like batteries, fertilisers are used to hasten the preparation and as such these adulterants are harmful to human beings. The sealed bottles are not guaranted. U can die of cirrohosis of liver even if you drink one peg of such feni everyday. If you have a garden grow cajus and the fruit can be used by you to distil feni. U know what you are drinking. one can finish a bottle without going to the hospital. Scotch wishey is also distilled in the same line. One does not know whether the foreign liquor is manufactured by registered companies or next door. ullas nagar scindi association usa.
