This month's Goanet operations sponsored by Mrs. Daisy Faleiro ------------------------------------------------------------------------ >From the latest (Jan 20-26, 2007) Goan Observer (www.goanobserver.com). The material is behind a subscription wall, so am posting excerpts only. r "Documents in the possession of Goan Observer reveal that not just Vishwajit Rane and his spouse Deviya Rane but the entire Rane family including the Chief Minister, Pratapsingh Raoji Rane, his wife Vijayadevi Rane and her brother, M.Y. Ghorpade are linked to the ongoing land scam which the Regional Plan 2011 represents. DOCUMENTS IN the possession of the Goan Observer indicate that the entire Rane Parivar was allegedly involved in the brokering of the sale of at least 2.85 lakh sq. metres of prime beachfront land to Gold Resorts and Hotel Pvt. Ltd., a Delhi-based company, in Loliem village in Canacona for a consideration of Rs. 4.07 crores through two sale deeds executed on June 20, 2006 between Handsel (Goa) Pvt. Ltd. and Gold Resorts and Hotels Pvt. Ltd. According to the two sale deeds in our possession, two parcels of land of 2.55 lakh sq. metres and 30,000 sq metres were sold by Handsel Goa Pvt. Ltd. represented by Hemant Sharma who coincidently also happens to be a Director on the Board of Kharapur Agro Ltd. whose principal share holders are the Chief Minister, Pratapsingh Rane, his wife Vijayadevi Rane and S.Y. Ghorpade, brother of Vijayadevi Rane. Hemant Sharma is not only a Director of Kharapur Agro, but the principal signatory to all the documents executed by Kharapur Agro Ltd." . . . "IT is an established fact that all beaches are public property. Notwithstanding the law, the sale deeds make the atrocious declaration that the beaches existing in the said properties are private beaches and as access to the said beaches is only through the properties listed in the sale deeds, the purchasers would be entitled to exclusive use and enjoyment of the beaches." . . "The number of vendors, all of whom appear to be poor illiterate tribal people, amount to 89 in the case of one property and 95 in the case of the other. The power of attorney holders for the various alleged original owners or occupants of the property have put their thumb impression on the sale deed on their own behalf and on behalf of the other alleged owners. Going by the fact that the power of attorney holders have themselves put their thumb impression it would seem that the attorneys are also as illiterate as the vendors or alleged original owners or occupants they claimed to be representing. No doubt it is just a coincidence that the attorney holders for the vendors in both the properties are identical." . . . "The reason why not a single Congress minister or MLAs and ministers extending support to the Congress or MLAs belonging to the opposition with the exception of Manohar Parrikar, Victoria Fernandes and Matanhy Saldanha and Dr. Wilfred De Souza have endorsed the demand of the Goa Bachao Abhiyan to scrap the Regional Plan 2011 is because everyone of them is suspected to be a party to the loot and plunder that the 2011 Regional Plan represents. Though Manohar Parrikar has opportunistically jumped on the bandwagon and even attempted to hijack the agitation against the Regional Plan, no other BJP MLA has publicly denounced the Regional Plan 2011. Similarly though Dr. Wilfred De Souza has joined the chorus for scrapping the Regional Plan 2011, his cabinet colleagues Mickky Pacheco and other senior NCP office bearers have also remained silent on the demand to scrap the Regional Plan." ____________________________________________________________________________________ Food fight?
