I lived for a long time in Goa, though I am a Canadian. From my reading, I associate the Lion sculpture (which I have seen oftentimes on gateposts and house ornamentation in Goa Villages) with the *Kadamba Dynasty*. You might try searching with such key words as *'Chandor' & 'Kadamba'. *I rather think that it does *not *have to do with 'Goa Returned Africanders'. The one to consult would most likely be Dr. Teotonio De Souza.
