Farewell Friend, Rev Fr Nascimento, you will be dearly missed. He breathed his last at Holy Spirit Church Margao and the funeral will be at Saligao on 9 January 2018. He was recuperating from his debilitating illness and surgery and was confined to his room lately, hardly venturing out. He seemed alright but was forgetting . I visited him on 29 December and spent some time with him. He did recognise me advised me to write at least 4 lines daily, whatever that meant, He was feeling tired , weak and had a small bite of his morning break fast and was in a mood of resting I guessed. He had an attendant, who was very affectionate, sympathetic attending on him, groomed his hair put on his spectacle for my last photo treating him with love and patience. The number of timely medicines distributed i saw were too many. I did not realise the end so was so near and promised to visit him soon., He was disturbed about the loss of his room keys, which he rembered were handed over to someone. We were very closely associated, when he was a chaplain at Sucaldem, Chinchinim He will long be remembered, as he has painstakingly documented history of Churches priest from Bardez and at the time of his death was busy compiling priests details of Salcette. His publications were a self effort with his meager resources , meant to fill a void .He expressed to me and has still to recover the costs, yet he ventured into more publications out of sheer interest and personal goal His contributions remain invaluable documentations for the records of the Diocese and the only type of specific information treasure available as detail reference ever attempted. He has received acclaim and recognition from many social organisations and his monumental work has been held in high esteem.Nothing ever deterred him as he traveled widely, even abroad at his own expenses to complete his passion. My past associations has hardly any memories of his being a determined and consistent writer, a trait he pursued, nursed much after He was simple , open, transparent and honest, He was a devoted and true follower of Christ and committed to strengthening spiritual formation of those under his care,He was on the staff of Holy Spirit Church, Margao were he single minded pursued his pursuits and published many books may his soul rest in peace Nelson Lopes Chichinim
