It is gross professional impropriety and sheer highhandedness on the part
of former Solicitor General Harish Salve to have agreed to give the Goa
Government legal advice on the mining issue. Harish Salve having earlier
been Amicus Curiae in the Goa Mining case before the Supreme Court, it is
now a clear and blatant conflict of interest.
Harish Salve’s nexus with the notorious former Advocate General of Goa and
now the Additional Solicitor General Atmaram Nadkarni is also no secret. In
a gross abuse of power Atmaram Nadkarni had got Chief Minister Manohar
Parrikar to hurriedly issue on January 17th 2014 a very controversial
notification extending the Special Marriage Act to Goa. It was all done to
solely facilitate the marriage of Harish Salve’s daughter Saaniya with
Armaan Siddiqui which was illegally solemnised in Goa on February 24th that
year at Vijay Mallya’s Kingfisher Villa in Candolim.
To circumvent the rules, a false declaration was made by Saaniya Salve
before the Panaji Sub-Registrar that she was a resident in Goa for over six
months at 105/106 Altess Manor in Caranzalem, a flat owned by Atmaram
Nadkarni.
