Canada on the other hand, has 14 million pigs to a population of 38 million
people, while Iowa itself the biggest pig producer state in the US has 24
million pigs to a human population of only 3 million. 8 times pigs to people in
that farming state.

Goa sausages sell for 12 to 15 dollars a pound in Toronto. Sorpotel even more.

Eric (if he knows a Smithfield employee) and I, should do some pork-running on
the lines of rum-running of prohibition days, or gun-running of today. At the
very least we would bring down the price of Sorpotel in Toronto.

Smithfields is the US’s largest pork processor with 55,000 employees but has
been bought out by China which is the world’s largest pork producer. The next
time the US threatens China, it will gets its pork cut off!

For those wondering, a pig weighing more than 120 pounds becomes a hog.

Annual US output is 110 million hogs, with 28 million tons of meat sold every
month. Tyson slaughters 8000 hogs an hour in a typical plant. They are in the
process of switching to carbon dioxide gas from electric prongs, to knock them
unconscious. Employees pay ten cents a pound : a lot of sorpotel !
