Chief Minister Sawant needs to be given a round of applause as he has promised 2 lakh jobs for people who live in the coastal area. Bravo!
Governments promise jobs and often do not deliver! How many jobs has this government promised and how many jobs have been given to Goans based on their promises from the past? Please provide statistics so we can build confidence in this Government’s promise. The people also want to know the broad outline of the tourism plan and benefits otherwise we will have to accept the cynical claim of some people: it is to increase the number of matka bookies and vote bank! Taxi drivers are unhappy because the Transport Minister wants to station taxis outside pubs and bars and tavernas. I like the idea but again we need to know how many bars and how many taxis exist so there can be at least one taxi outside one bar. I am told there are many more bars than taxis. Not bad news, this. If the bars exceed the number of taxis here is a great opportunity to give jobs to local Goans. The Transport Minister’s plan can be be used in support of the Chief Minister goal which is provide 2 lakh jobs to local Goans living along the coast. Mopa is morbid news for the hotel industry and stakeholders along the coasts as hoteliers have taken loans to build their hotels and Mopa is eating into their ability to pay back the loans. They want government to cancel the loans. Why is the tourism policy favoring the north of Goa and why a stepfatherly treatment for the people in the south? The government should not create a situation where the taxi drivers and stakeholders have to go to war with their counterparts in the north of Goa. Use wisdom in policy making otherwise Goa will sink even deeper into violence. Not a single flight should be diverted to the Mopa airport as it means bad news for the tourism industry in the south because of a big loss in income for all stakeholders. Mopa airport was hyped to be a cargo hub and government needs to keep to its word. With mining shut down by the late Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar tourism is the only hen which lays the golden eggs. Let us not slaughter the hen or the tourism party in Goa will be as alive as a dead duck.
