Mr Anil Kamat, a bachelor, r/o Bamado  , Chinchinim, passed away
peacefully after a brief illness  at Delhi , on 4.June 2024 at the age of
70 years
It is to his  personal credit that he has held a position of responsibility
and  honour in AIFF and  is the First   and only sportsperson  from
Chinchinim  Village to hold the  exhalted post that makes us all and sports
enthusiasts feel proud and honoured .In his early days  he was on   MMHS
soccer team and  completed  SSC .He Associated with CRCC and Salcete FC.His
initiative helped register Union of Chinchinim Villagers F.C
 .He served as EC member and joint secretary   , GFA. It was Mr Alberto
Collaco  his mentor , who spotted his talents  and groomed  him  to
shoulder responsibility far beyond his own expectations  and humble
background  of formal education or specific sports   qualifications to
climb the ladder of success in the organisation .Anil as  the senior
 official  at AIFF,  loved, respected  ,served for  uninterrupted 25 years
 , as Asstt.General Secretary and Director of Competitions.He was
recognised as an authority of competition  and match operation with his
landmark contributions . In his service of dedication never faulted  in his
wise decisions planning  and hence admired ,supported by his superiors in
his excellent role which was never once  faulted
His expertise in soccer and management earned him domestic and
international appreciation
Due to his preoccupation with work at AIFF at Delhi his fleeting  visits to
his native place  often went  unoticed
Mr Anil Kamat has travelled far in AIFF  then any other villager to date
and hence  salute him  for imprinting his footsteps for others to follow
.His mortal remains will be confined to flames  on 7 June ,at 10 30 am at
Chinchinim Crematorium .Rich  public tributes to his role are a sign of
respect and admiration
