Tuition teacher arrested for sexual assault on 9-year-old
BY HERALD REPORTER MARGAO, OCT 26 The Colva police on Friday evening arrested the 40-year-old female tuition teacher in connection with the sexual assault on a 9-year-old boy at Benaulim. The teacher was taken into custody by the police after her bail application was rejected by the Childrens Court this evening. Colva PI C L Patel told Herald that the lady teacher was referred for medical examination to the Goa Medical College and hospital, Bambolim soon after her arrest. She has been arrested under section 8 (2) of the Goa Childrens Act and section 377 of the Indian Penal Code for unnatural sex. PI Patel said the police are also investigating into a complaint lodged by another boy, who also used to take tuitions with the accused teacher. The Colva police had registered a case against the teacher three days ago after the mother of the 9-year old victim boy complained of pain in his private part. Colva police are further investigating. Our Panjim reporter adds: The Childrens Court on Friday rejected the anticipatory bail application of the 40-year-old tuition teacher who is alleged to have assaulted her 9-year-old student. The accused was arrested immediately after her anticipatory bail application was rejected even as 100-odd supporters stood outside the Court for the verdict. A case was registered against her under Section 377 (unnatural sex) of IPC and section 8(2) of the Goa Childrens Act after the boy complaint to his mother. The President of the Childrens Court Nutan Sardessai rejected the anticipatory bail plea pointing out that accused had avoided the arrest for three days.
