<On utilising the facility for training pilots, the HAL official said, there
is good scope for that business as not many airports in the country are able
to impart training. ''Airlines can utilise the facility for training their
pilots on a particular type of aircraft, conversion of co-pilot to commander
and other training activities. None of the busy airports allow this as they
do not get the slots. Airlines go to Nagpur and Kochi for training pilots,''
he said.>

Of course, Goa's Dabolim is an exception! Why does the Goa government not
prevail on the civil aviation ministry and the defence ministry to shift
military fight training out of Dabolim (say to Karwar or Kochi naval air
stations) so that the scarcity of slots can be ameliorated and more civilian
flights can operate during the peak morning hours instead of being bunched
up in the off peak afternoon hours. Once Mopa gets going may be some
CIVILIAN flight training can be done there too instead of at CIAL(?) or
Nagpur as stated in the report.
