Kindly appreciate that I don't intend taking too much of your departments time, as I understand that you dept has lot of things to do. This was not any suggestion; This particular query was addressed to Mr. Eduardo Faleiro who had along with the Goa Government promised me a reply at the Global Goan Convention in January 2007. All I was asking was for them to come back to me as promised and surely you would appreciate that 17 months is a long time for me to be patient. Any way I see that this has been forwarded to the CM and I will follow up with him; but I must state that I have still not received the Goa Govenment's answer to my entire proposal. Kindly appreciate my views that I believe that Goan Identity needs to be preserved and even the NRI dept can help by the fact that there is a big NRI Goan community. One of of the ways to encourage them to return is to work with the Goa Government to have conducive environment in Goa eg. Employment Opportunities, Welfare i.e. Health, Education etc. Sadly I find this lacking in Goa and the Government doing nothing about it in line; with Goan Interests. One example of how we can do it is the recent email I have sent to Mr. Faleiro on Employment opportunities for NRI Goans (Please see below) Thanks Again Arwin Mesquita. From, Mr. Arwin Mesquita, Abu Dhabi, UAE. 07TH May 2008. To, Mr. Eduardo Faleiro, Honorable Commissioner for NRI Affairs, Government of Goa, Secretariat, Porvorim, Goa, India. Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Employment opportunities for Non Resident Goans Dear Sir, I am writing to you on ideas, for possible Employment of Non Resident Goans. Contrary to the common view, there are Non Resident Goan's eager to return to work in Goa and are looking for suitable employment opportunities; even in the Private Sector. I understand that your Overseas Employment Agency helps Goans with Jobs overseas. However, please appreciate that priority today is to stop the demographic reduction, by offering Goans suitable opportunities in Goa itself. I visited the Government Employment Agencies in Goa and found out that the 80% Jobs reservation is a toothless policy; I am addressing this separately with relevant people, as I clearly see opportunities for Goans. Please can you consider my ideas below and take them up with the Goa Government: (A) Employment Exchange should be transparent in all jobs available (public & private sector). This can be done by managing a professional website; which can be easily accessed by Non Resident Goans. (B) The Governments needs to review the minimum wages by sector for a valid wage increase; which will enable interested Goans to afford a satisfactory lifestyle in Goa. Sincerely, Arwin Mesquita, Abu Dhabi, UAE.
