Samir--

The only way is for Goans to determine their own future. We should shy away from the Indian Govt. who contributes little but is sucking up our land through its proxies, the dilliwallahs and the ghantis who foul it. We deserve autonomy and should make our voice heard in international fora--including the U.N. who had once condemned Indian aggression.

To build upon Rajan's expose of what is going on, we need an operation such as the one I described yesterday--hire professionals, conservationists, city/town planners--and especially aggressive lawyers to initiate lawsuits against the corrupt politicians and the developers when they have been caught with their hand in the cookie jar. There seems no other way because the politicians are corrupt and the citizenry, sadly, is sussegado. I am confident we can raise the money for this enterprise if we can find a leader who can gird for war!

Chris

PS -- Tourism can be a good moneymaker but we have to go after the upper-end clientele--not the mostly riff raff that comes via discounted charters. But before we can even begin to think of quality tourism, we should find a solution to rid our beaches and cities of those bhaile who defecate and otherwise defile all environs. We cannot attract the better tourist if Goa gives the appearance of a taxi ride from the Santa Cruz airport into Bombay city--if you know what I mean!

Subject: [Goanet] Lessons for Goa

>Samir--

Contrary to what you say, my personal experience in Bangalooru has been
otherwise. I have seen feces on pavements and floating through open sewers
by the sidewalks. A pretty disgusting sight!

Chris

Chris, the way Bangalore is moving, all these things that you see now will
vanish in a few years. I guess the whole shit will move to Goa, if we
dont do anything about it.

The problem is that Goans are still susegad.

Tell me --- are we an intellectually superior race that we can afford to be susegad while others whom we call 'ghantis' slog it out all day?

Unless we work very very hard, we will be relegated to be degenerate and our only hope will be being pimps and prostitutes.

Today, the world is competitive. There is no free lunch.

And I will tell you one thing --- there is hardly any respect in this world for places which are predominately tourist --- look at Thailand, Bahamas etc. One needs to be good at more intellectual professionals because they are the future of the world.

Samir
