Sorry Selma, I disagree. This is a time, more so than any other, for
level-headed rational thinking. Mindless frenzy and blame-game based on
partisan propaganda is what breeds communal tension and sectarian hatred.

Comment:
Please put on your thinking cap and keep on thinking. It sounds very
intellectual and profound. In the meanwhile the carnage has spread from Orissa
to Mangalore with incidents at Jabalpur, Jhabua and Delhi. Places of worship
are being desecrated and destroyed.Orphanages, schools, homes and other
institutions are being razed to the ground. People are being killed, raped,
beaten and burnt. But, of course, this is all 'partisan propaganda'. No matter
that they are documented by independent media like Times of India, Hindustan
Times, NDTV, PTI and corroborated by the National Minorities Commission and
National Commission for Women. But then so long as the problem does not touch my
doorstep we can sit comfortably and think.I am reminded of a poem written by
the Rev Martin Niemoller during the World War II which is as relevant today-

First they came for the Communists,
  and I didn’t speak up,
    because I wasn’t a Communist.
Then they came for the Jews,
  and I didn’t speak up,
    because I wasn’t a Jew.
Then they came for the Catholics,
  and I didn’t speak up,
    because I was a Protestant.
Then they came for me,
and by that time there was no one
left to speak up for me.

by Rev. Martin Niemoller, 1945

We all need to remember that if we are complacent today, it may be our turn
tomorrow.

Regards,

Marshall
