* ** *The Goenkarancho Orixt Avaz (GOA)* has demanded that the Government in
the
State should be of Goans and urged Chief Minister Digambar Kamat not to cal= l
Goans
aam admi. Addressing a meeting at the Multipurpose Grounds, Fatorda, GOA
Convenor
Anacleto Viegas said the phrase aam admi used by the Chief Minister has
immensely
hurt the sentiments of all Goans. In his address, Laurel Abranches said the
pension
scheme formulated by the Government should be implemented for the benefit of
all
Goans, irrespective of caste and creed, adding the payment should be made
mandatory
in the firs= t week of every month. He said the Sonsodo garbage plant should be
handed over to such a company that the whole garbage, which is presently dumped
at
the site should be cleared within 30 days on priority basis in the interest of
the
public and Goa. Mahesh Nayak came down heavily on the level of corruption in
the
State. He further said the functioning of the police is to enforce law and
order and
act against those breaking the law and urged the people to take the initiative
to
curb the alarming corruption in the interest of Goan public and Goa state.

D=92Souza said it is high time Goans should unite and forge unity t= o save
Goan
land, culture, ecology, infrastructure, mountains, rivers and paddy fields in
the
interest of the future generations. In his address, Theo Fernandes said the
people
should object to the mega projects in each and every village as there is
shortage of
water, electricity, proper roads and garbage problems. Women rights activist
Auda
Viegas said it is time for each and every Goan woman to unite and fight against
corruption, law and order, to reduce the cost of daily food items and fight to
safeguard the interest of young girls and women. The meeting was presided over
by
Mahesh Nayak, while the resolutions were read out by Laurel Abranches.
