--------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sign the Petition requesting The Honble Minister of State for Environment and Forests (I/C) to maintain the moratorium on issuing further environmental clearances for mining activities in Goa
http://goanvoice.org.uk/miningpetition.php --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Actually Joe, the predicted solar storms of 20012 (not the dooms day scenario) could wipe out data off hard drives, knock off electricity, the cel phone networks and who knows what else. There are warnings for broadcasting the London "lympics of possible outages. As well, there is a debate as to how long (time wise) the present medium can hold data....example, a cd with pictures- it is said would deteriorate after a few years. That said, the internet the way it is today is very fragile and in a worse case scenario, it won't take long to break down- came close a couple of times. There is still a debate on the alternative to the present system being talked about but far from implementation. Regards.
