Dr. Ferdinando dos Reis Falcão.
I dont know why you people just take something so little and make it sound like a disaster. I have served in shipping and have lived all my life on battery and generators. Let me tell you i would be confident if the mumbai ATC or that matter the MOPA ATC was running on batteries or on generator. That way no smart #$#$#$ in the electricity depart can play a fool with my life. For your info the radar did not go blank it was on BATTERY POWER.

If they were to go blank then no flights would have landed or taken off, For your info more than 3-4 flights landed and took off during that time. People at the tower are highly trained to operate in all circumstances.

Dont you people take a torch out at home, when the lights are off, go down to thane limits where there is load shedding for 8 hrs a day, these people are living on back up power, if you are in the area you will not realise that there is no power and that you are on back up power. Even the staircases in buliding are on back up power. the place is lit so well that you will be suprised

Go down to the best hospitals you will see that there is back up power supply available, if there is any risk then you think that they would have kept it there.

Just because one channel on TV goes on showing the news you get brain washed. They are doing just to increasing their TRP. People like you get carried away and then add to the confusion.

You are against the airport then thats a different issue.

All said and done, I feel that there is a legal loophole that can stop this fraudulent "Development". The overlooking or bypassing the safety standards of 150 Kms distance from another operating airport by the government can lead to accidents with massive loss of lives and property. Just a couple of days back the radar system at Mumbai airport went blank for 21 minutes due to ongoing work wherein a cable got cut, and the Air Control Tower was totally in no command. Should something like this happen with Mopa & Dabolim functioning; imagine the flights coming in for landing, and the fate of the flights in close proximity, and the resultant destruction of homes on the ground. Legally, I do not feel Government can compromise as far as safety of human lives is concerned.
Any takers??
