Really interesting to read such macro proclamations about the recently formed GRA. The more rosy the picture, the more must be the cause for apprehension. A movement of 50 villages without trace of a head and tail defeats the very laws of nature. It has all the ingredients for another mega deception like the GBA even though it has no convenor and declared itself as not apolitical. This time of course there will be no one to fix the accountability upon. Anyone can dance footsie post Assembly elections 2012. We definitely have India's post-independence political history to guide us. We are also not ignorant about Goa's post liberation political movements. The failure of the Janata Party which emerged from Jayprakash Narayan's revolution took a heavy toll on this country. It emboldened the Congress and demoralised the other forces, particularly the masses that revolted against the Indira Gandhi regime. The masses never really recovered from that loss and deception. The NDA which came to power on the same promise of change was again a disaster. Power corrupts and abolute power corrupts absolutely. GBA which suddenly emerged in 2007 as the champion of the Goan people was driven to the same fate no sooner the Chief Minister was seated on the chair. Since then it has been nothing but a cake walk for real estate and mining in Goa. The quantum of destruction has only multiplied. But Goans who are known to be habituallly blinded by their emotions have once again decided to swim in the same soup. There are always Goans ready to throw in their money to make the work of veteran politicians much easier. If you cannot beat them, confuse them. The GRA seems designed to lead Goans down the same road yet again. Towards a future of Goan disillusionment and betrayal. For the manner in which it has come into existence and the elements that have infiltrated its rank and file, one cannot but predict its short life and utter failure. The problem is that no group really knows what they are fighting against and where the source of their problem actually lies. It is just mob frenzy. All we will have is a prolonged Carnival that may even merge with Shigmo until the Assmebly Polls 2012.
