-- Samir Umarye BICHOLIM APRIL 27: The Sanquelim Municipal council through a meeting has asked the collector to rectify the name of the city from Sanquelim to Sakhali.
According to the information provided by the Sanquelim Municipal Council chairman, Anand Naik through a letter dated 14/4/2011 the municipality has asked the North Goa collector to rectify the name of the city Sanquelim to Sakhali. "This was an unanimous decision taken by us during the municipal meeting to rectify the name of the city as word Sanquelim is a Portuguese word" Anand Naik told "five villages of Harvalem, Gauthan, Parye, Karapur and Virdi becomes the one Sankhali and so we feel that it is the right word for the city."
