Camp over, time for action
The Camp is over; it’s time for action. After 22-days of hectic camping at the Ambedkar Stadium in Delhi, India’s Senior National Team proceeds to play a couple of away friendly matches against Maldives and Qatar. The team reached Bangalore on 6th afternoon from where they proceed to Male on 7th morning. The Captain of the 30-member squad hasn’t been decided as yet. Coach Armando Colaco insisted on selecting captains on a rotational basis. “For the two Friendly matches, we may have two different captains,” he informed, adding: “However, for the World Cup Qualifier, we will have the same captain for the two legs but I’m yet to decide on that.” India play Maldives on July 10 after which they shift base to Doha for another preparatory camp. In Doha, India are scheduled to play Qatar on July 17 at the Al Sadd Stadium. India next play UAE in the first-leg of the World Cup Qualifiers on July 23 in Abu Dhabi and then in the second-leg in New Delhi on July 28. There was only one practice session scheduled for the day – the boys had a light practice session in the morning. A satisfied Armando wasn’t willing to go overboard over his team’s preparations. “I’m happy with the progress so far. I have certain plans and hope to execute them on the field,” he said. “The boys have adjusted well to the style and are raring to go.”
