Cobbler, cobbler mend my shoes
Margao Municipal Council is to be appreciated for drive against
clearance of hawkers, occupying passages, footpaths in the market It
is certainly a good measure that leads to confiscation of valuable
goods adding to the resources of the Municipality. The drive against
this menace is selective and irregular. For the hawkers in and
around Margao garden the business is as usual, obstructing much needed
place for the movement of the pedestrians. The veranda and passage of
the Municipality is adorned by the cobblers, which is definitely an
eyesore. One wonders how on earth they have inherited this specific
right to carry on their trade unhindered under the very eyes of the
authorities. And why only the cobblers in particular? Near the bus
stop at SBI , they create a filthy atmosphere and the cobblers near
the Pimpalkata are a nuisance ,considering the narrow and heavily used
road If the Govt is sympathetic to one trade in exclusion to all
others similarly placed, then it is biased attitude of discrimination
The authorities if they desire must rehabilitate them in a proper
allotted place in the city.
