Reply: I had asked Selma to show me which quotes in the piece I have
taken. I ask again. I don't know which forum or forums she talks
about. If she points it out to me, I will check if what I wrote is
wrote appeared there. Please help me help myself in this regard.
I would have written on the "quote" issue at length because someone I
hold in highest regard in journalism circles was sort of forced to
resign on this issue from Poynter a couple of months ago because of a
"woman" who as head of the department thought she knew too much. There
was heated debate on journalism forums and many supported the
columnist for taking quotes without attribution as they said he didn't
pass them on as his own but would direct his readers to the site from
where the story appeared. Anyway, this issue is not for this forum.
Besides, Selma said she could "evaluate" the Digamber Kamat
government. I would be glad to read her evaluation, so I request her
to do so. Selma has lamented that goanet has declined in intellectual
stuff. Let Selma open the debate on the Kamat government's rule for
five years and tsome of us will join in. Go ahead Selma set the ball
rolling.

Does speaking to four "expats" makes the heading relevant to the
story? What is :"total change of blood"? A transfusion for the
politicians? Why did Selma omit the word "political" before "blood" in
the subject line? It is easy to say such things in a heading but the
ground reality is different. I, for one, would prefer President's Rule
for a short period. But that's unlikely to happen unless there's
total chaos post-election and the government machinery breaks down.

Does these "four" expats (or experts) represent all or us or most of
us expats? Mayabhusan is doing his job as a reporter and this "expat"
angle is added to the coverage of the elections. I wished he had
talked to more expats, especially NRIs in the Gulf. These NRI Goans
are more "closer" to Goa than Goans elsewhere. At least he could have
talked to Goans in Swindon who are, as I have been informed, Niz
Goenkars. Now don't get me wrong and say that I am pissed off because
I was not asked to give my opinion. My opinions have been there for
all to see in Goa papers and Goa-related websites.

I would like to second Selma and ask "experts" such as Fred and
Mayabhusan to give their take on the issue of "quotes".
