We have heard time and time again that Goa was liberated on 19 December 1961 from the shackles of the Portuguese. As most of the Freedom Fighters and other Goans think it was a "liberation from the Portuguese" why then is the Dabolim Airport still run by the Navy? Does it indicate that Goa is still in captivity? Are we worried that the Portuguese may come to Goa from the Arabian Sea? Can someone please elucidate on this? Oscar C. Lobo Melbourne.
