Stephen Dias D.Paula Date: 10.11.2013 DONA-PAULA TO VASCO SEA LINK REVIVAL? Goa being a small state our politicians is making mockery of the plan which was already put on back burner. The revival of this “sea-link” suggested by Mr John Fernandes is been reported in one of the dailies and says that this distance to Dabolim will be reduced by 20 kms. He may be right as far as distance is concerned but at what cost? Earlier this project was estimated for Rs. 2000 crores. Can’t people travel by road from North to Dabolim? In other parts of the country they travel much more distance although their state is larger than ours. Goa being a small state this distance in tolerable provided we save amount for this huge construction cost of sea-link where we will be having huge maintenance cost and there also threats of terrorism and also plans to destroy by bad elements than Goa will loose such a big sum. Let us concentrate expanding our highways. It is foolish on the part of John to suggest this idea and revive this sea-link at this moment. Anyway Mopa he says will not come up in future but who will listen to him, as Parrikar and central BJP are in the arms to get it materialized. And if BJP Govt comes in power surely Mopa will tend to exist and this Sea-link will be a burden to the Govt.of Goa exchequer. There is nothing in hurry to decide right now as lots of problems Goa is already facing and there is no solution so far. Umpteen of buses and other vehicles are already causing chaos at D.Paula, so that sea –link will add to the miseries of the residents of D.Paula and hence this project must be shelved. Parrikar Government can think on high priority having a Bus Stand at D.Paula rather than a sea-link. Stephen Dias D.Paula Mob: 9422443110
