This is a list for all golfing announcements, tips, tricks, and nyer-nyering one's deadliest enemies when one sneaks a couple of strokes ahead. The hamming and magic squares tournaments were organized by LA.pm (Samy, in particular, I think http://la.pm.org/golf/ ), while the vowels/letters one and the previous ones were part of a monthly ongoing battle organised by The Perl Review ( http://perlgolf.sourceforge.net/ http://www.theperlreview.com/ ). > I'd like to know for several reasons: > 1) Why are the gods of perl-golf not 'members' in the hamming code > one, where I, who has no affiliation to anything, am a member? Are you a member of LA.pm? If so, the that is why you am in the member's list. If not, ask Samy to remove you to the non-members, or even the beginners' list (if I understand the jist of your message correctly). > 2) In 2 days time, I'm going to want some pointers from the gurus on > the no doubt obvious tweaks that I could make to my hamming entry - > is this the place for such discussions? Oh, yes. Although there wasn't that much in the way of discussion for the magic numbers course, but I tend to think that is because it was a dauntingly hard problem, and very few people took the plunge. I had a skim over the post-mortem of it, and wasn't much the wiser. > I must admit that I find the skill and tenacity of most people in > these tournaments to be absolutely _frightening_.
