Thanks for pointing these out.  We found a problem with the filter
parameter, and will be working on getting it fixed.  I don't have an ETA,
but it shouldn't take too long.  If other people are relying on this
parameter, please let us know, so we can better prioritize (Right now, I
believe that it's little used).

Regarding your comment about totalResults, you're correct about its
inaccuracies (the old Web Search API also has this problem), and you make a
great point about documentation.  Watch for a docs update coming soon to
clarify.
