> How Google Moderator (GWT) connect to App Engine?

Just from looking at the traffic on the wire, it looks like a pretty
solid implementation of JSON between GAE and GWT. Opening up the
source would seem to be mutually beneficial to both projects.

Another benefit of opening the source would be the ability to address
some shortcomings:
1) Privacy - I've seen some discussions where people refuse to use
something which requires authentication only through a Google Account.
It's frustrating, but if the nickname or email address is being used
as the user reference in the datastore, then surely any authentication
mechanism (e.g. OpenID) could be used?
2) Ownership - For some projects, the choice of a less restrictive
license would be preferable (e.g. CCZero), along with the ability to
extract/backup data in bulk.

Until these two issues are resolved some people and groups, who fear
that Google is just waiting to turn into 'teh evil', will refuse to
use it.
